Two burglers broke into the Fantastic supermarket’s storeroom and made off with thousands of Rands in stolen property. Selby Sbongiseni Mkhize (36) and Scelo Cele (32) appeared in the Umzinto Magistrates’ Court Today, 17 July on a charge of business burglary. They were remanded back into police custody until their next court appearance on 27 July for their bail application hearing.
It is alleged that an Umzinto businessman did a stock take at the Fantastic Supermarket storeroom in Umzinto on 4 July following an alleged burglary when he discovered that 15 three plate gas stoves, 3 two plate gas stoves and 13 one hundred litre capacity aluminium cooking pots had been stolen. The lock had been broken to gain entry into the storeroom and remove the property.
Detective Warrant Officer Steyn Moonsamy and Detective Constables Erasmus Mbutho and Deon Govender of the Umzinto SAPS Detective Service sourced information and arrested the two accused in the Umzinto CBD on Saturday, 15 July. Ten of the gas stoves were recovered by the detectives and they continue with the investigations to recover more of the stolen property.
