This is literally the only video I've seen recommending to season at such a high temp (which also explains the smoking). Also, if everyone seems to agree that there is nothing better than that old heirloom cast iron skillet from grandma, why would we think that changing flax seed oil is better than Crisco? I understand the science, but I guarantee all the little old grandmas weren't pulling out their flax seed oil to season their skillets. They would probably laugh… Read more »

Sorry, but never use a paper towel on cast iron. it leaves micro particles of paper, that WILL affect cooking, and flavor. Everything else is great. Remember, lint free cotton, never paper………..?

omg that is way to much work just for one utensil ! some ppl are bored to even cook because it takes to long , the preparation , the cooking the serving and the cleaning and now if you use this pan its extremly timeconsuming. But thanx for the inlightment i will never use this kind of pan, after all in 4 hours after you consume your food you know where it goes and what it will be …. :D?

Some inaccuracies, and misleading comments in the video, but still some mostly good advice. Unfortunately folks think that Cast Iron pans are a lot of work, and they're really not. Can you chuck it in the dishwasher when done? No, but once mine cools a bit I can scrub it with a brush under running water for about 10 seconds and it's done. Sometimes it needs a bit of scraper, but less often now that I use my pan more. I've never used salt on it. Drying it is just like drying a regular pot with a cloth, then I… Read more »

You can, and should, use soap to clean your cast iron. Not just salt. The whole idea that it will remove your seasoning is a myth.?

You should never use soap on cast iron, cast iron is porous, it will forever taste like soap.?
