JOHANNESBURG – A senior Gauteng Health Department official says lives were lost at Life Esidimeni because of poor planning.
Chief Planning Director for Gauteng Department of Health, Levy Mosenogi was speaking during the arbitration process in Johannesburg on Tuesday.

He said the relocation of patients was pushed despite a number of red flags.
“I think what went wrong as an opinion, is that the timelines for the projects were just abnormal, we could not do that in the timelines we were given. I think that’s where it went wrong,” said Mosenogi.
Mosenogi added that more than 700 former Life Esidimeni staff also lost their jobs after patients were moved.
He’s back on the stand on Wednesday.
